Early Childhood Education Expert and CLASS Affiliate Trainer & Observer

Kimberly Bynum-Powell (Kim) works as the Lead NC Pre-K Policy Consultant with the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education with over 18 years of experience in Early Childhood Education, providing training and technical assistance, along with practice-based coaching. She served in various roles in the Head Start/Early Head Start arena within the Education sector prior to her last role as Assistant Program Director. Kim also serves on the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG), Graduate BK Program Advisory Committee as well as the NC Preschool Development Grant (PDG) for Teaching Strategies team.

As a former Education Manager and Education Specialist, Kim has experience with conducting local/state site visits and monitoring the classroom environment to ensure adherence to the NC Child Care Law and Curriculum Implementation and fidelity. She also has experience in maintaining CLASS reliable status for grantees as well as aggregate CLASS data to assure grantees are prepared for CLASS federal reviews.
